EPDM Roofing
EPDM Rubber Roofing for East Texas Buildings
Durable EPDM rubber membrane for low-slope roofs, additions, and rooftop equipment areas.
EPDM is a synthetic rubber membrane that has protected low-slope roofs for decades, and it remains an excellent choice for buildings with heavy rooftop traffic, complicated penetrations, or a preference for a dark surface. It handles the extreme temperature swings of a Texas year without cracking, and it stays flexible far longer than the built-up systems it replaced.
We install EPDM fully adhered, mechanically attached, or ballasted depending on the building and the wind exposure. Seams are joined with tape or adhesive systems, and every curb, drain, pipe, and parapet transition receives a proper detail rather than a bead of caulk. On repairs, we clean and prime before patching, which is the step most rushed contractors skip and the reason so many EPDM patches fail within a season.
EPDM is also very repairable. A damaged section can be cleaned and patched cleanly, which makes it economical over a long service life. We offer maintenance visits that catch punctures and seam separations while they are still cheap to fix.
Not sure whether EPDM, TPO, or modified bitumen is right for your building? We will survey the roof, explain the tradeoffs in cost, reflectivity, and longevity, and quote the options.

Where EPDM Still Beats Everything Else
EPDM has been on low-slope buildings for decades because it tolerates movement, handles ponding better than most membranes, and repairs cleanly years later. On additions, small commercial buildings, and low-slope porch roofs around Lindale and Tyler, it is often the most cost-effective long-term membrane available.
Fully Adhered, Mechanically Attached, Or Ballasted
The attachment method should follow the deck and the wind zone, not the crew's preference. We specify fully adhered where uplift matters and aesthetics count, mechanically attached where budget drives the decision, and we detail terminations, drains, and curbs the same careful way in either case.

EPDM Roofing FAQs
Is EPDM better than TPO?
Neither is universally better. TPO's white surface reflects more heat, while EPDM handles temperature swings and heavy foot traffic exceptionally well. The right choice depends on your building.
How long does EPDM last?
Twenty to thirty years is typical for a quality installation with periodic maintenance.
Can EPDM be installed over an existing roof?
In some cases, with a recover board and if the substrate is dry. We determine that during the roof survey.
